Nina’s formal education spans from Art history and European languages to Anthropology. Fundamental human tasks such as growing produce, preparing and sharing a meal and other such means of togetherness have been essential in her research. Travelling and emerging herself in different cultures have been an integral part of this. Similarly, becoming a mother in her early twenties, shifted her gaze onto societal questions about female roles, practices and means of empowerment in its inherent connection to nature’s resilience and current food cultures.
After years of working in the contemporary arts while pottering around in the kitchen in her spare time, Nina embarked on her culinary journey. She completed her Ayurvedic chef training at the European Academy of Ayurveda - with further enriching teachings of Ayurveda and its profound life science by Dr. Vasant Lad in later years. Studies of western herbalism followed under the guidance of experienced European ethnobotanists, which have deepened her reasearch into indigenous and ancient food practices.
As a plant based- female - fire chef, in all her food endeavours her mission is to bring plant based cooking to the forefront of the palatable creme de la creme. Yet not in some multi-starred Michelin indoor kitchen dominated by the straight line thinking male gaze but instead invites people to join her to take a step outside and offering them real elemental cooking while sharing nature’s seasonal bounty with gratitude and respect.
